 CONCEPT

This work is an installation that allows the presence of time to emerge through light.

The vertically standing rectangular format is inspired by the structure of a hanging scroll, functioning as a device that quietly raises an axis of time within space. Inside, horizontally layered acrylic rods form a stratified structure. Like the surface of a lake before it is disturbed, this layered construction exists as a field of time that remains invisible until activated.

[Vertically standing rectangular format]

When laser light enters from the outside, it refracts and interferes within the rods, moving slowly through the layered structure. Incorporating natural noise, its changes never fully repeat. As the light travels between layers, it appears to weave time, generating subtle fluctuations within an otherwise silent form.

When the laser ceases, the work returns to stillness. Yet the layered structure remains, holding the latent possibility of time even before illumination. Light does not create an image; it briefly reveals the time that has always been there.
